“Give unto the Lord the glory due His name” (Ps 29:2; NKJV). “For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen” (Rom 11:36; NKJV). “You are worthy, O Lord to receive glory and honour and power” (Rev 4:11; NKJV). It is pretty clear that we are to bring glory to God. When we ascribe glory to God, we acknowledge His splendour, majesty, perfection and excellency, His glorious and exalted condition. Jesus brought glory to God the Father by His life on this earth and His sacrifice and we are shown in the book of Revelation that Jesus is to be glorified (Rev 5:12). We are to bring glory to God in all that we do and say (1 Cor 10:31), we are the temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 6:17-20). Jesus said we should shine for Him, that our witness for Him and our good works would bring glory to God the Father (Matt 5:16). Through the process and working of the Holy Spirit His whole church should bring Him glory (Eph 3:20-21). We are not to seek God’s glory for ourselves (Ps 115:5). “I am the Lord, that is My name; And My glory I will not give to another” (Is 42:8; NKJV). We are called to set our minds on heavenly things (Col 3:2). As we humble ourselves before God (1 Peter 5:6) with the heart of a servant (Matt 10:45) we are promised that God will exalt us (1 Peter 5:6) and bless us with “riches, honour and life” (Prov 22:46; NKJV).
